In what is always an exciting matchup, the Blizzard and Jacks skated to a 0-0 tie in the 1st period in front of a packed RCC. The Granite City LumberJacks opened the scoring in the 2nd period at the 3:39 mark on a Sieben goal with the Blizzard quickly responding with a short handed goal by Kludt to tie the game at 1-1. The teams headed to the locker rooms tied 1-1 after 2 periods of play with the Blizzard coming out strong in the 3rd period with a Jack Dube goal at the 1:49 mark on a play from Jack Carter and Parker Anthony. Shortly after Ashton Collings scored at the 5:01 mark with Jack Carter and Jack Dube earning the apples. Granite City pulled Lehet with nearly 3 minutes left in the game and managed to score their 2nd goal with 36 seconds left in the game with the extra attacker with the Blizzard holding on for the 3-2 victory over the Jacks. Shots on goal favored Granite City 31 to 25.
The Blizzard remained home at the RCC Saturday to face division leading Rochester Grizzlies for parent appreciation night presented my Marhaler Chevrolet of Glenwood. Thirteen was the lucky number for the Grizzlies on Saturday as they opened the scoring in the 1st period at the 13:40 mark on a Tassel PP goal and followed up with two more goals in the 2nd period. The first being a Lakic PP goal at the 13:25 mark and Schmidt shortly after at 13:44. Karsten Senden was able to rip one past Kurtiak on the power play to get the Blizzard on the board at the 15:40 mark of the 2nd with Aiden Prochaska and Tyler Kludt getting the assist. With another PP opportunity early in the 3rd, Caleb Waller got the 2nd PP goal of the night on a play from Joe Gronholz and Matt Scrbner. The Grizzlies regained control midway through the 3rd on a Klotz PP goal making it 4-2 with Witham adding another goal at the 13:49 mark for the 5-2 victory over the Blizzard. Shots on goal favored Rochester 37 to 27.
In a rematch of Fridays game, the Blizzard headed to Granite to finish up the 3 game weekend. The Jacks were able to sneak in a late 1st period PP goal to take a 1 goal lead into the locker room and had another PP opportunity early in the 2nd that was spoiled by Tyler Kludts short handed goal with the assist going to Joe Gronholz to tie the game at 1-1. In what was a special teams battle, Ashton Collings added a PP goal for the Blizzard at the 8:30 mark of the 2nd with Aiden Prochaska and Tyler Kludt getting the assist. The 2-1 lead held till late in the period until Granite added another PP goal to tie the game back up. Granite City was able to capitalize on some sustained zone time and scored an even strength goal at the 6:33 mark of the 3rd to take the 3-2 lead and added a late EN goal for the 4-2 victory.
