Blizzard Cruise to 10-1 Victory in Home Opener

Alexandria opened up their home schedule with a 10-1 victory in front of a packed house on Saturday against Willmar.

KIK FM and Winning Edge sponsored the home opener with great promotions and the fans who came out on Saturday were ready to bring in the 22-23 season.
Gavin Carlson got the Blizzard rolling with his 1st of the year three and a half minutes into the game. Logan Lukaseczk and Ashton Collings assisted on the Carlson goal. Josiah Gronholz then scored his 3rd of the season with assists from Ryan Hadland and Charlie Lrsen. Ethan Moerke gave the Blizzard a 3-0 lead later in the 1st period with assists from Cole Klingbeil and Justin Wasvick. Then it was Ashton Collings capping off the opening period with his 1st Junior Hockey goal off assists from Matt McIntyre and Jayden Luck.
Willmar got on the board seven and a half minutes into the 2nd period, but Alexandria answered with 3 more goals from Wyatt Johnson, Cole Klingbeil, and Matt McIntyre giving the Blizzard a 7-1 lead after 2 periods.
Alexandria sent all the Blizzard fans home happy with three late 3rd period goals including Klingbeil’s 3rd of the game for the Hat Trick. Klingbeil led all scorers with 4 points (3G 1A) giving him 9 points in 4 games to lead the team. Matt Scribner and Ashton Collings each had 3 point nights. Gavin Carlson scored twice for a 2 point night, and the Blizzard also got multi point games from Charlie Larsen, Justin Wasvick, Bazl Cook, Josiah Gronholz, Jayden Luck, and Matt McIntyre. Kkyle Abrahamson stopped 26 of 27 for his 2nd victory. Abrahamson is 2-0 with a 0.984 SV% and 0.50 GAA
The Blizzard (3-1 – 6 pts) will travel to Mason City (4-4 – 8 pts) to take on the Toros this Friday and Saturday. Puck drops at 7:10 on Friday and 3:10 Saturday afternoon. Catch the action on hockeytv.com
