Blizzard Come up Short at North Iowa

Saturday night the Blizzard traveled to Mason City to take on the North Iowa Bulls, and came up just short in a 5-3 loss. It was looking good for the Blizzard early in the second the period, when Carter Rieland scored his 3rd of the year two minutes into the second period giving Alexandria a 1-0 lead. Dallas Duckson and Jared Sanborn picked up the assists. Kaden Peterson gave the Blizzard a 2-0 lead on the power play at the 9:25 mark with Caleb Strong and Sean Kenny assisting on Peterson’s 1st of the season. North Iowa came back though with three goals in the final ten minutes of the 2nd period for a 3-2 lead heading into the third period. Cole Jacobs scored his 3rd of the season just forty seconds into the third to tie the game 3-3. Colin Tushie and Austin McNeil picked up the assists, but North Iowa took the lead three minutes later and added a power play goal later on the third for the 5-3 victory.

Alexandria (5-4-1 – 11 pts) is in 2nd Place in the West. Saturday night the Blizzard travel to Willmar to take on the Warhawks (4-8-0-0 – 8 pts) Puck drop is at 7:10 pm. Catch the action on hockeytv.com
