Blizzard Close Regular Season with Sweep

Alexandria closed out their regular season with a home and home sweep of the Minnesota Loons. The Blizzard beat the Loons 4-2 at home on Friday and 6-1 on the road Saturday.

Friday night saw the Blizzard play from behind. After giving up a goal at the tail end of the 1st period the Blizzard came alive midway through the 2nd period when Zach DeMarce scored on a one-timer from Kaden Peterson and Ethan Moerke to tie the game. Matt McIntyre scored his 20th of the season on the power play off a rebound from a Ryan Hadland shot with Sean Kenny also picking up his 35th assist of the year. The Loons came back with another late goal to tie the game 2-2 after two. Gavin Carlson gave the Blizzard a 3-2 lead eight minutes into the 3rd with his 3rd of the year. Cole Klingbeil and Alex Heidenreich picked up their 22nd and 23rd assists respectively. Heidenreich capped off the night with his 15th of the season off assists from Cole Klingbeil and Wyatt Johnson. Bailey Rosch stopped 22 of 24 to improve to 8-7 on the year.

On Saturday night the Blizzard were in much more control leading 1-0 after one, 4-0 after 2 and outshooting Minnesota 42-19 en route to the 6-1 victory. Michael Debrito led the Blizzard with 2 goals, Cole Klingbeil led the way in points with a goal and two assists. Ben Tschida also had a multi-point game. 13 different Blizzard players picked up a point. Joey Greilich stopped 18 of 19 improving his record to 9-6-0-1.
