Blizzard Clinch Playoffs

Alexandria took advantage of their opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a resounding 11-0 shutout over New Ulm on Wednesday night.

The Blizzard started strong once again building a 3-0 lead after the 1st period, added three more in the 2nd and capped off the night with a 5 goal 3rd period to earn a perfect 8-0 record against the Steel this year. Ethan Moerke and Matt McIntyre each scored a hat trick. Moerke led all scorers with 4 points. Zach DeMarce and Sean Kenny each had 3 point nights. Gavin Carlson along with Charlie Larsen each scored their first Blizzard goals, and Bailey Rosch stopped all 14 shots for the shutout running his win streak against New Ulm to 7-0 dating back to the ’19-’20 season.

Alexandria (20-17-1 – 41 pts) remain in 4th place trailing Willmar by 6 points. The Blizzard hit the road this weekend to take on the Milwaukee Power Saturday night at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. Catch the action on hockeytv.com
