Blizzard Blow Out Loons 13-0

Alexandria hosted the Minnesota Loons Wednesday night and got back on track with a 13-0 shutout.

The Blizzard basically put the game away in the 1st period with 5 goals, added one more in the 2nd period, and then poured it on with a 7 goal 3rd period and ending up with 60 shots on net.

Cole Klingbeil led the way with a hat trick and two assists for a 5 point night. Alex Heidenreich also had 5 points with a goal and 4 assists. Justin Wasvick, Tyler Klinbeil, and Ben Tschida each had 4 point nights, as the Blizzard lit up the scoreboard with 14 players picking up points. Joey Greilich made 22 saves for his 1st shutout of the season and improved his record to 6-5-0-1.

Alexandria (16-14-1 – 33 pts) remain in 4th place and will travel to New Ulm on Saturday to take on the Steel at 7:10 pm. The Blizzard next home game is Saturday January 29th. It’s Cub Foods Pack the Rink night. Stop into Cub Foods in Alexandria to pick up your free tickets.
