Blizzard Big Win Against Bulls

Saturday night the 1st place North Iowa Bulls came to town, and the Blizzard bounced back with a 4-2 victory. North Iowa outshot the Blizzard 14-6 in the first and led 1-0 heading into the second period. Alexandria seized the momentum with three goals in the first five minutes. Caleb Strong tied the game :53 seconds in off a nice feed from Nikolai Rajala. Cole Lehmann put the Blizzard on top with a power play goal with assists going to Strong and Sean Kenny. Then Colin Tushie scored his first Blizzard goal on  a breakaway. North Iowa came back with a late 2nd period goal to pull within 3-2 heading into the 3rd period. Alexandria’s Cole Klingbeil scored seven minutes in to put the Blizzard back up by two. Brandon Greeder and Ben Tschida picked up the assists. Joey Greilich made 11 3rd period saves and ended with 33 on the night for a .943 save percentage and his 2nd victory of the year.

With Saturday’s win Alexandria (4-2-1 – 9 pts) is one point behind North Iowa for the West Division lead. Friday night the Blizzard travel to New Ulm (1-5-0 – 2pts) who just picked up their first win of the year. Saturday night the Blizzard are back home to host Granite City (4-1- 8pts).
