Blizzard Beat Loons for 8th in a Row

Alexandria rang in the New Year with a 6-4 victory over the Loons on New Year’s Eve. Sean Kenny scored his 11th and 12th goals in his last 10 games to pace the Blizzard who’ve won 8 in a row. Charlie Larsen, who leads the Blizzard defense in scoring with 20 points, picked up 3 assists, and Ryan Hadland and Joe Gronholz stayed hot with 2 points each. Hunter Chubb made 22 saves to pick up his 2nd win of the year. Logan Lukasezck, Justin Wasvick and Matt McIntyre all scored second period goals as the Blizzard built a 5-1 lead, but the Loons came back in the 3rd to pull within 5-4 until Gronholz slammed the door with the empty netter. Ashton Collings led the way on Friday with 2 goals in the Blizzard 4-1 win at New Ulm. Wyatt Johnson and Jayden Luck each had 2 points and Alex Lamont improved to 8-2 on the season with 21 saves in net.

Alexandria (19-5-0-1 – 39 pts) has won 12 of 13 and will travel to New Ulm on Friday and Willmar on Saturday. Puck drop is 7:10 both nights, catch the action on hockeytv.com
