Nov 7, 2022

Alexandria headed out on the road this past weekend for a 2 night 2 city trip to Willmar and Breezy Point picking up a split on the weekend.

Friday night the Blizzard took on Willmar a team looking for revenge after the Blizzard spoiled their home opener with a 2-0 win Oct 1st and dismantled the Warhawks 10-1 at their own home opener Oct 15th. Willmar staked themselves to a 3-0 lead midway through the game until Ryan Hadland put the Blizzard on the board with his 7th of the season off an assist from Wyatt Johnson. The Warhawks pushed the lead to 5-1 in the 3rd before Ethan Moerke scored his 3rd of the season with assists from Cole Klingbeil and Bazl Cook. That’s as close as Alexandria would get falling 5-2. Kyle Abrahamson took the loss in net.

Saturday night the Blizzard bounced back outshooting the Loons 17-6 in the 1st period and 12-4 in the 2nd period en route to a 4-1 victory. Charlie Larsen scored a minute and a half into the game off assists from Joe Gronholz and Ryan Hadland. Gronholz scored his 6th of the year midway through the 2nd period and then Karsten Senden gave the Blizzard a 3-0 lead moments later with his 2nd of the year on the power play with assists going to Ashton Collings and Wyatt Johnson. The Loons spoiled the shutout midway through the 3rd period to pull within two, but Logan Lukasezck slammed the door with his 1st of the year with assists from Ryan Hadland and Charlie Larsen. Gronholz, Larsen, Hadland and Johnson had multi-point games, and Alex Lamont had 26 saves to improve his record to 3-1
