Anderson nets hat trick, leads Alexandria to 9-3 win over Minnesota

Caleb Anderson netted a hat trick to lead Alexandria over Minnesota, 9-3.

Anderson\’s first goal came 16:38 into the second period. He then added goals at 2:52 into the third and at 10:55 into the third.

Alexandria forced Minnesota\’s netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 45 shots and forcing 36 saves. Dakota McDonald made 28 stops and Brady Griffin made eight. Alexandria\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Minnesota power plays. Alexandria found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Alexandria averages 3.7 goals per game.

Alexandria additionally got points from Tyler Frischmon, who also had two goals and one assist and AJ Gullickson, who also registered one goal and three assists. Alexandria also had goals scored by Logan Norman, Louis Gerzin, and Logan Nelson, who each put in one. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Dawson Ellingsworth, Mason Hautala, David Carey, Jacob Odegard, and Tony Arias, who each chipped in one and Jack Mellstrom and Connor Nilson, who contributed two each.

Minnesota was helped by Ty Ennis, who racked up one goal. Ennis scored 18:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1.
