Alexandria rolls over Twin City, 6-1

The Twin City Steel had trouble finding ways to stop the Alexandria Blizzard, which beat Steel, 6-1.

Alexandria was sparked by Logan Norman, who registered one goal and one assist. Norman scored 15:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Alexandria. Nathan Scofield provided the assist.

The Blizzard put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Twin City to score on any of its four power plays. The defensemen of Alexandria were also effective in the Steel\’s zone, and came away with two goals.

Alexandria additionally got points from Tom Monteiro, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Tom Schmidt, who also had one goal and one assist, Gavin Mindt, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Scofield, who also registered one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Jody Randall as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Tyler Sworsky, who had two and Tyler Berginski, Matt Resch, Luke Pavelich, Tony Arias, and Nate Mettenburg, who each chipped in one.

Twin City racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 68 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 35.0 minutes per game the Steel had been spending in the box. Twin City\’s offense operated below its season average. The Steel put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

Twin City was led by David Becker, who scored the team\’s only goal. Becker scored 11:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jared Erickson picked up the assist.

Evan Bisek made 19 saves for the Blizzard on 20 shots. Alexandria totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-10 on the power play. The Steel\’s Robbie Goor stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. For Twin City, Russel Barone was ejected from the game.
