Alexandria rips Minnesota, 8-0

Alexandria had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-0 win over Minnesota.

Tony Arias was all over the ice for Alexandria, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Arias scored the first of his two goals at 5:13 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Alexandria. Alex Bowe picked up the assist. Arias\’ next tally made the score 6-0 Alexandria with 2:07 left in the second period. Dawson Ellingsworth provided the assist.

Alexandria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Alexandria forced Minnesota goalie Dakota McDonald to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Alexandria\’s goal total was higher than its season average. Alexandria has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Alexandria also got points from Logan Nelson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Caleb Anderson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Aaron Ryback, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Alexandria also had goals scored by Jack Mellstrom and Louis Gerzin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Trent Olson and Logan Norman, who each chipped in one and Jack Cernohous and David Carey, who contributed two each.

Minnesota was held below its usual level of production. Minnesota puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game.

Brey Effertz made 17 saves for Alexandria on 17 shots. Alexandria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. McDonald rejected 42 shots on goal for Minnesota. Minnesota incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
