The Alexandria Blizzard played three games at an NA3HL Showcase event in Blaine through Tuesday night, and the Blizzard finished that run with a 2-1 record.

Alexandria beat the Atlanta Capital 3-2 on Dec. 17. That was after a 4-3 win over the Great Falls Americans on Dec. 16 and a 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Jr. Blues to open up the showcase.

It was an explosive first period against Atlanta with four of the five total goals being scored in that opening frame. Alexandria had three of them as Austin McNeil, Ike Taraszewski and Dylan Carlson all found the back of the net. That proved to be enough as Bailey Rosch got the win in net for the Blizzard with 10 saves.

Alexandria got the win over Great Falls in overtime when Taraszewski scored at 3:03 of the extra session. Carter Rieland, Evan Sivets and Cole Jacobs all added goals, and Ville Hyttinen got the win with 20 saves.

St. Louis got two third-period goals to secure the 4-2 win over Alexandria in the showcase opener. Alex Heidenreich and Austin McNeil both scored for the Blizzard in the second period, but William Oliver stood tall around those goals with a 16-save win. Hyttinen took the loss despite 25 saves after allowing the four goals.

The Blizzard has off through Christmas now before taking on New Ulm on the road on Dec. 27. Alexandria’s next home game at the Runestone Community Center is Dec. 31 against Breezy Point with a 7:10 p.m. start time.
