Alexandria blows out Rochester, 8-3

Alexandria had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over Rochester.

Logan Norman was all over the ice for Alexandria, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Norman scored the first of his two goals at 5:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alexandria. Aaron Ryback provided the assist. Norman\’s next tally made the score 7-2 Alexandria with 10:30 left in the second period. Alexandria found itself down a man on Trey Greene\’s high sticking.

Alexandria forced Rochester\’s goalies to work without much rest, firing 53 shots and forcing 45 saves. Zach Mains made 31 stops and Kyle Plantz made 14. Alexandria found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Alexandria has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

Alexandria also got points from Caleb Anderson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tony Arias, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Alexandria also had goals scored by David Carey, who had two and Alex Bowe and Alec Seeger, who each put in one. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Dawson Ellingsworth, Jack Mellstrom, and Mason Hautala, who each chipped in one.

Rochester could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Rochester was led by Dominik Bogdzuil, who had two goals and one assist. Bogdzuil scored the first of his two goals at 15:09 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Alexandria. Trey McMillen assisted on the tally. Bogdzuil\’s next tally made the score 6-2 Alexandria with 10:46 left in the second period. Rochester had gained a power play chance when Steven Gustafson was whistled for head contact. Rochester also got a goal from Justin Sweet as well. More assists for Rochester came via Colby DeCarlo, who had two.

Brey Effertz rejected 14 shots on goal for Alexandria. Alexandria incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Rochester registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
