Alexandria beats Breezy Point 8-5 as Randall gets hat trick

Jody Randall lifted the Alexandria Blizzard to an 8-5 victory with a hat trick against the Breezy Point North Stars.

Randall\’s first goal came 13:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:09 into the second and at 5:47 into the third.

Breezy Point fell victim to a deadly Alexandria power play, which ripped the North Stars for five goals.

The Blizzard\’s offense rang up 42 shots on Breezy Point\’s net. Alexandria was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 37 penalty minutes.

Alexandria also got points from Nathan Scofield, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Alexandria also had goals scored by Nate Mettenburg, who had two and Eric Hewitt and Tyler Sworsky, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Kyle Jones, who had two, Tom Schmidt, who had three, and Logan Norman, Tyler Berginski, Christian Canavati, Mitch Krafcheck, Tony Arias, and Gregor Lanziner, who each chipped in one.

The North Stars kept the Blizzard\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Bisek made 31 saves on 36 shots. Breezy Point struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 63 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. The defensemen of the North Stars were also effective in Alexandria\’s zone, and came away with three goals.

Breezy Point was led by Jordan Carey, who registered one goal and two assists. Carey scored 3:04 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Breezy Point. Joe Costello assisted on the tally. Breezy Point additionally got points from Costello, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Sean Viti also scored for Breezy Point. Other players who recorded assists for Breezy Point were Tyler Larwood and Ryan Mezera, who contributed one each.

Joe Licata recorded 34 saves for the North Stars. Breezy Point registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. For the North Stars, Nick Blanchette was ejected from the game.
