Matt Scribner wasted no time as the Blizzard took the ice in Willmar facing the red hot WarHawks scoring just over a minute into the game on a power play goal from Karsten Senden and Eli Fletcher. Later in the first, Reece Hubmer made it 2-0 Blizzard on a play from Bazl Cook and Ashton Collings also on the power play. Willmar came out in the second period on a mission scoring 3 goals in the opening 5 minutes to take a 3-2 lead with even strength goals by Dean and Cantwell. Just over halfway through the middle period Markus Olson tied the game for the Blizzard with Tyler Kludt and Chris Fotopoulos earning the assists. Willmar refused to back down with Misialek putting the WarHawks ahead once again at the 15:54 mark of the second and it wasn’t until almost midway through the third period that the Blizzard had an answer. Parker Anthony scored the tying goal with Sam Taylor and Jack Carter getting the helpers. In the final minutes, Aiden Prochaska scored the game winning goal with a unassisted goal to end the WarHawks winning streak and increase the Blizzards win streak to 8 games.
In what is always an anticipated matchup, Granite City game to the RCC Saturday night for Cool 94.3 80s night. With a filled barn, Granite City was able to open the scoring ten minutes into the game with Lesser beating LaCosse for the 1-0 lead. Roughly 4 minutes later, the Blizzard answered with a Chris Fotopoulos goal with Ashton Collings and Aiden Prochaska earning the assists sending the teams to the locker rooms tied at 1. The Blizzard quickly took advantage of a power play in the second period with Aiden Prochaska once again netting the game winning goal this time with Ashton Collings and Bazl Cook getting the helpers. While there was no further offense from either side, Granite City failed to capitalize on a 5 on 3 advantage late in the third period with the Blizzards defense and LaCosse coming up strong. The Blizzard skated to the 2-1 victory and extendied their win streak to 9 games with the weekend sweep over the WarHawks and Jacks.
The Blizzard now sit in 2nd place in the west tied with Granite City at 46 points, with the Rochester Grizzlies at 52
