xAlexandria penalty kill dominates in 10-5 defeat of Minnesota

The xAlexandria Blizzard, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Minnesota Flying Aces\’ power play opportunities and emerged with a 10-5 victory.

Minnesota was unable to stop xAlexandria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blizzard eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. xAlexandria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Blizzard have scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign. xAlexandria was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play. The Blizzard got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Flying Aces\’ goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Minnesota averages 2.2 goals per contest.

The Flying Aces were led by Eric Cruickshank, who registered two goals and one assist. Cruickshank scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Minnesota had taken the advantage when xAlexandria\’s Aammir Freese got sent off for elbowing. Jack Anderholm assisted on the tally. Cruickshank\’s next tally on the power play made the score 9-4 xAlexandria with 10:16 left in the third period. Anthony Martinez provided the assist. Minnesota additionally got points from Bradee Thompson, who also had one goal and one assist and Eric Rogorzenski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Vladimir Marchenko also scored for Minnesota. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Tyler Leverty, Jordan Forschen, Tyler Gallagher, Jake Mullendore, and AJ Gullickson, who contributed one a piece.

The Blizzard\’s Kyle Miller stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. xAlexandria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Patrick Anderson rejected 28 shots on goal for the Flying Aces. Minnesota incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
