Alexandria made the trip to Granite City on Saturday trying to salvage their Thanksgiving weekend by beating the 1st place Lumberjacks.
Granite City had other plans though as they used a 4 goal 3rd period to skate away with a 7-1 victory. After a scoreless first sixteen minutes, Granite City took a 1-0 lead but the Blizzard answered with a minute left in the period when Ryan Hadland scored his 12th of the year off assists from Matt McIntyre and Sean Kenny. Alexandria hung in there down just 3-1 after two but the Lumberjacks opened it up in the 3rd period and cruised to the 7-1 win.
Alexandria ( 9-10 – 18 pts ) will try to snap a three game losing streak when they head to Willmar on Wednesday night, before hosting the Lumberjacks this Friday night at 7:10 pm. Walmart and the Blizzard will be collecting non-perishable food items at the door for a donation to the Outreach Food Shelf. Everyone who donates will be entered into multiple drawings throughout the game for Walmart Gift Cards.
