THE ALEXANDRIA BLIZZARD COMPLETE ANOTHER ROAD SWEEP TO MAKE IT 6 STRAIGHT WINS
The Blizzard traveled back to Blaine on Friday night to take on the Moose in the first of two weekend road games. Late into the opening frame, Ashton Collings would light the lamp, giving the Blizzard a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Eli Fletcher would add another goal to put the Blizzard up 2-0 after the 1st period. Halfway through the second period the Blizzard would go up 3-0 on and Easton Schmit power play goal. The third period did not have scoring on either side as the Blizzard would skate to the 3-0 shutout win. Chase Hennessey picked up the win in net stopping 25 shots for his 1st career shutout.
Saturday night the Blizzard took a quick trip south to take on their rival Willmar WarHawks. Willmar would take the lead late in the 1st period and lead 1-0 after the 1st. The Blizzard would tie it up as Jack Dube would strike on the powerplay a few minutes into the 2nd period. Kaden Roness put the blizzard up 2-1 halfway through the 2nd period. Willmar would respond with a power play goal of his own, once again tying the contest. Markus Olson would put the Blizzard ahead for good as he scored a power play goal with 3 minutes left in the 2nd. Caleb Waller scored a few minutes later which would give the Blizzard a two-goal lead going into the third. Mason Buchanan scored Alexandria’s third power play goal of the game and Kaeden Krieg added an insurance marker to end the game as the Blizzard picked up the 6-2 win. Kyle Abrahamson stopped 29 shots in the win.
