Day 2 Summary

St. Louis Jr. Blues 4 @ Alexandria Blizzard 3: Andrew Kovacich factored in to three of four St. Louis goals as he paced the Jr. Blues offense to a 4-3 victory over the Alexandria Blizzard. The Jr. Blues snapped a seven game losing streak as they opened their NA3HL Showcase schedule with a big win. Kovacich blocked a shot while on the penalty kill and took the puck on a breakaway sliding it through the five hole of Alexandria goalie Evan Bisek to give his team the early 1-0 lead. The start of the 2ndperiod saw the teams trade power play goals and the Jr. Blues jumped to a two-goal lead when Alex Carlsson put home a pass from Kovacich. The Blizzard put an early goal in to cut the lead to one but Mike Lozano struck for his 2nd goal of the game to give the Jr. Blues the insurance goal and the lead for good. St. Louis goalie Billy Hindle stopped 30 shots for the win.

Day 3 Summary

Alexandria Blizzard 4 @ Flint Junior Generals 3 (OT): Bo Gronseth didn’t wait long into overtime as he took the puck off the draw and scored 49 seconds into the extra frame to give the Alexandria Blizzard a 4-3 come from behind OT victory. The Blizzard was down 3-1 going into the final frame until goals from Nate Mettenburg and Gronseth tied the game up at 3. Gronseth then got his 2nd of the night to pick up the win for the Blizzard. Flint goaltender Nathan Klebe made 28 saves in defeat and Nick Gnagni scored a goal and added two assists for the Flint offense.

Day 4 Summary

Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 2 @ Alexandria Blizzard 6: Three goals in the beginning and ending periods provided all the offense the Alexandria Blizzard needed in their win over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks. Three Blizzard players, Ian Ecklund, Aaron Ryback and Jake Maxson, had multi-point games and goaltender Evan Bisek stopped 31 shots for the victory. Jared Johnson picked up a power play goal for Cleveland giving him 39 points on the night, which is good enough to be in the top three of the NA3HL leading scorers. 

Day 5 Summary

Alexandria Blizzard 7 @ Cincinnati Swords 2: Joe Anderson had a hat trick and two assists in an impressive 7-2 victory over the Cincinnati Swords. Alexandria jumped out to a big 1st period lead scoring four goals including two from Anderson to open the game. Alexandria goaltender Tanner Elmore stopped 26 shots to pick up his 5th win of the season and improve his record to 5-0. The Swords offense came courtesy of Thomas Clayton and Ian Rolfsen, who scored his first goal of the season during the game.
